Building Links for Your Website

a chart to describe the search engine market

Building links to your website is one of the best ways to increase it's value in the eyes of the search engines. For instance, if you want your site to show up at the top of Google for your given keywords, you had better have a good number of links to your website.

While Google looks at many factors when ranking a website for relevance, popularity among other website owners is a large one. This means, that if another website owner thinks your website is great and has amazing information, they are going to put up a link to your site. Google analyzes the number of links and the quality of links to your site to determine its value.

If you have ever wondered why some websites optimize their pages for a handful of keywords and the are almost instantly showing up on the first page of Google for those words, while other website owners can barely show up on the search engines at all - well, it comes down to LINKS.

So, how do you build links? There are a number of processes, all of which take lots of time and effort. While every site owner should create a plan that includes these efforts, there is also some cool software out there that helps build links for you.

One such software is called Sky High Linker. The price is actually quite reasonable considering the amount of money it costs to hire link builders. I think for like $127 you can try the software out yourself. That will barely buy a few hours of a link builders time - so I think it is worth it. You can read more about Sky High Linker here -

If you are uncertain as to how many links your website already has, there is a free tool called Open Site Explorer. Here is how it works:

1. Go to the site http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/
2. Type in your website address. If you use a www before your domain name, type that in. Example - www.samplesite.com
3. Click Search
4. This free software will give you your site's Page Authority, Domain Authority, Linking Root Domains and then finally Total Links. When you scroll down you will see who is linking to your website and what that site's Page Authority and Domain Authority is. The higher these numbers, the more 'weight' that links has - and you want heavy weighted links.

You can even type in your competition's website address and see how many links they have and who is linking to them. This will give you an idea of how many more links you might need.

Again, if you need help building those links, I would give Sky High a shot.

Some people pay thousands for search engine optimization, others hire in-house specialists and then there are those who have figured out the inside secrets to play the game. These same people also spend less time doing the work.

One such program is SEO Pressor - Wordpress Plugin. To see the video on how this software works Click Here!

SEO Basics

To perform search engine optimization on a site or for a company is not as simple as waiving a magic wand, changing some items within a person's website and voila - the site is now ready to rank number one in Google. SEO is much more complicated than that and has only become more and more complicated as time goes by and the Internet has grown more sophisticated.

According to SEOMoz - responsibilities of an SEO Strategist have evolved since 1999 and now in 2011 are all of that from the past plus some. They include:

Add to this 2011 responsibilities:

As you can see, the workload is tremendous and the amount of research equal. If you are looking to optimize your own website, be prepared. If you are looking to hire another company, realize the reason it isn't cheap is due to the shear amount of research and work. And, if somebody offers to provide SEO for you for little to no cost, especially if they are from foreign countries, know that you get what you pay for.
